Before you can update any settings, you will first need to reset the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem to its factory settings.<\/p>\n

To do so, with the device powered on, use a paperclip or similar tool to hold down the reset button on the back of the modem for more than five (5) seconds. The modem will then restart – this may take a few minutes.<\/p>\n

Once the modem has been reset, ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled on the device you are using to access your modem (e.g. computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet). If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you should turn off your mobile data connectivity or any hotspot connection during this process.<\/p>\n

Connect to the Wi-Fi\/Wireless network of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem on your computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet. To connect to the Wi-Fi network of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem, locate the Wi-Fi network name being broadcast by the modem from your device (e.g. computer\/laptop), select this network, then enter the password for this network when prompted.<\/p>\n

If you are unsure of the Wi-Fi password, this will be printed on the bottom of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem and is usually labelled “Wireless Password\/PIN”.<\/p>\n

PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A WORKING INTERNET CONNECTION TO CONNECT TO THE WI-FI OF THE TP-LINK TD-W9970 MODEM OR ACCESS THE MODEM GATEWAY PAGE.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alternatively, you can plug in an RJ-45 Ethernet cable from your computer or laptop to one of the four (4) yellow LAN ports on the back of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem.<\/p>\n

\"Td<\/p>\n"},{"label":"step 2 - log into your modem","content":"

Open your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome\/Internet Explorer\/Mozilla Firefox\/Microsoft Edge), enter tplinkmodem.net<\/strong><\/span> into the address bar and press Enter.<\/p>\n

If this does not work, you can also try and enter 192.168.1.1<\/span> <\/strong>into the address bar.<\/p>\n

If successful, a login box or window should appear asking for a username and password. Enter admin<\/strong><\/span> for the username and admin<\/strong><\/span> for the password.<\/p>\n

If this doesn\u2019t work, the password will be printed on the sticker on the bottom of the TP-Link TD-W9970 modem, usually labelled “Default Access”. Enter this password.<\/p>\n

Once you have logged in, you will have several options listed on the left of the page. Click ‘Network<\/span>‘<\/strong>.<\/span> Then, underneath this, click ‘DSL Settings<\/strong><\/span>‘.<\/p>\n

There will now be multiple options presented. You will need to enter\/select these options as follows:<\/p>\n

DSL Modulation Type: VDSL2<\/span><\/strong>
\nAnnex Type: Annex A
\n<\/span><\/strong>—
\nEnable Bit Swap: Enabled (ticked)<\/span><\/strong>
\nEnabled SRA: Enabled (ticked)<\/span><\/strong>
\nDisable AELEM: Disabled (not ticked)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Press ‘Save<\/strong><\/span>‘<\/p>\n

Now click ‘Quick Setup<\/strong><\/span>‘ on the list of options to the left of the page.<\/p>\n

Press ‘Next<\/strong>‘<\/span>\u00a0to Continue.<\/p>\n

Select Region as “Australia<\/strong>” and choose your state’s Time Zone.<\/p>\n

Press ‘Next<\/strong><\/span>‘ to Continue.<\/p>\n

Select ‘No. I want to configure The Internet Connection myself’<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Press ‘Next<\/strong><\/span>‘ to Continue.<\/p>\n

There will now be multiple options presented. You will need to enter\/select these options as follows:<\/p>\n

ISP: Other<\/span><\/strong>
\nL2 Interface Type: VDSL<\/span><\/strong>
\nEnable VLAN ID: Disabled (unticked)<\/span><\/strong>
\nConnection Type: PPPoE(PPP over Ethernet)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Press ‘Next<\/strong><\/span>‘ to Continue.<\/p>\n

You will now need to enter your MATE service username and password as follows:<\/p>\n

User name: 000000000000000@wba.matenbn.com.au<\/span> (your MATE service username would have been emailed to you during the order process)<\/strong>
\nPassword: 1234567<\/span> (your MATE service password would have been emailed to you during the order process – this is NOT the same password as your MATE self-care login)<\/strong>
\nConfirm Password: 1234567<\/span> (your MATE service password would have been emailed to you during the order process – this is NOT the same password as your MATE self-care login)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Press ‘Next<\/strong><\/span>‘ to Continue.<\/p>\n

Simply press ‘Next<\/strong><\/span>‘ to continue on the next two screens (Quick Setup – 3G\/4G and Quick Setup – Wireless) without changing any options\/settings.<\/p>\n

Press ‘Save<\/span>‘<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>on the final confirmation screen.<\/p>\n

\"Td<\/p>\n"},{"label":"step 4 - plug your modem into your telephone wall socket","content":"

You now need to plug your TP-Link TD-W9970 modem into your telephone wall socket using an RJ-11 telephone cable.<\/p>\n

One end of the telephone cable needs to be plugged into the grey port labelled DSL<\/span><\/strong> or VDSL<\/strong><\/span> on the back of the modem and the other end into the telephone wall socket in your home.<\/p>\n

You will need to wait for the DSL<\/span><\/strong> light on the front of your modem to turn solid \u2013 this may take up to 15 minutes. DO NOT UNPLUG THE MODEM DURING THIS TIME.<\/p>\n

If the DSL light on the front does not turn solid after 15 minutes and you have more than one socket in the home, please plug your TP-Link TD-W9970 modem into any other available telephone sockets in your home, and turn the power on and off once plugged in.<\/p>\n

Leave your TP-Link TD-W9970 modem plugged into each telephone wall socket for up to 15 minutes until the DSL light on the modem turns solid. Once this occurs, the Internet<\/span><\/strong> light should also illuminate.<\/p>\n

If the DSL light on your TP-Link TD-W9970 modem does not turn solid after 15 minutes and you have tried to connect this on all available telephone wall sockets in your home, please contact our support team<\/a> for further troubleshooting.<\/p>\n
