If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you should turn off your mobile data connectivity or any hotspot connection during this process.<\/p>\n<p>Connect to the Wi-Fi\/Wireless network of the Telstra Smart Modem Gen 1 (DJA0230) on your computer\/laptop\/smartphone\/tablet. To connect to the Wi-Fi network of the Smart Modem, locate the Wi-Fi network name being broadcast by the modem from your device (e.g. computer\/laptop), select this network, then enter the password for this network when prompted.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure of the Wi-Fi password, this will be printed on the back\/bottom of the Smart Modem.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A WORKING INTERNET CONNECTION TO CONNECT TO THE WI-FI OF THE SMART MODEM OR ACCESS THE MODEM GATEWAY PAGE.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, you can plug in an RJ-45 Ethernet cable from your computer or laptop to one of the four (4) yellow LAN ports on the back of the Smart Modem.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10965\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-1_Main.png\" alt=\"Telstra Smart Modem Gen 1 Main\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mate.web.clickclick.media\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-1_Main.png 1280w, https:\/\/mate.web.clickclick.media\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-1_Main-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n"},{"label":"step 2 - log into your modem","content":"<p>Open your web browser (e.g. Google Chrome\/Internet Explorer\/Mozilla Firefox\/Microsoft Edge), enter <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">10.0.0.138<\/span><\/strong> into the address bar and press Enter.<\/p>\n<p>If this doesn\u2019t work, you can also try and enter the following: <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">192.168.1.1<\/span><\/strong> or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>192.168.0.1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If successful, a login box or window should appear asking for a username and password. Enter <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>admin<\/strong><\/span> in the Username field;<\/p>\n<p>Enter <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Telstra<\/strong><\/span> in the Password field. If this doesn\u2019t work, the password will be printed on the bottom of the modem. Click &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Broadband<\/strong><\/span>&#8216;<\/p>\n<p>Under the heading PPP Settings, enter your MATE service username in the Username field. This will be in the following format: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>000000000000000@wba.matenbn.com.au<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Your MATE service username would have been emailed to you during the order process.<\/p>\n<p>Under the heading PPP Settings, enter your MATE service password in the Password field. This will be in the following format: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>1234567<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Your MATE service username would have been emailed to you during the order process &#8211; this is NOT the same password as your MATE self-care login.<\/p>\n<p>Click the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Apply<\/span><\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9486 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/F@st-5355_3.png\" alt=\"F@st 5355 3\" width=\"682\" height=\"569\" \/><\/p>\n"},{"label":"step 4 - plug your modem into the nbn\u2122 device","content":"<p>You now need to plug your Telstra Smart Modem into your nbn\u2122 device using an RJ-45 Ethernet cable.<\/p>\n<p>One end of the Ethernet cable needs to be plugged into the red port labelled <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>WAN<\/strong><\/span> on the back of the modem and the other end into the active port on your nbn\u2122 device &#8211; this will either be a numbered <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>UNI-D<\/strong><\/span> port (such as UNI-D 1, UNI-D 2 etc.) or a <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">GATEWAY<\/span><\/strong> port.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-10966\" src=\"https:\/\/www.letsbemates.com.au\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-1_WAN.png\" alt=\"Telstra Smart Modem Gen 1 Wan\" width=\"701\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mate.web.clickclick.media\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-1_WAN.png 965w, https:\/\/mate.web.clickclick.media\/mate\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Telstra-Smart-Modem-Gen-1_WAN-768x477.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure which port to plug into on your nbn\u2122 device, please refer to your MATE activation email and SMS which specifies the correct port.<\/p>\n<p>You will need to wait for the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Online<\/span><\/strong> light on the top of your modem to turn solid.
